Homemade Pizza:)

On Saturday night Tyler's softball game was canceled due to the rain.:( Boo on that.:( We decided it was the perfect type of night to stay in and enjoy some more Olympic action! I have been craving pizza, but not just any pizza...homemade pizza! I do not really care for the chain store type pizzas. They typically just give me a stomachache and leave me feeling yucky! I do love BJ's pizza and of course CPK, and I also really like Round Table, but I can pass on just about every other kind!;) On our honeymoon we had the best pizza I have ever had from a cute pizza place in Lockport, N.Y. Oh my goodness it was to die for!:) I can't wait to go back someday and have some more of that goodness!
Anyways, my parents have always made amazing homemade pizza so I decided to call my mom and get the crust recipe from her! I love this recipe because the crust turns out thick and soft! I am happy to say that my first homemade pizza crust turned out great! Tyler and I both loved it and enjoyed our pizza and salad while watching Steve Holcomb lead the American bobsledders to Olympic gold!
I have always loved to bake and cook, but I enjoy both even more now that I married and get to try out new recipes in my own little kitchen!!:)

Here is our pizza right before it went into the oven! Notice Tyler's side only has cheese and pepperoni! My side has the good stuff!;)
Above is the finished product! Hot, bubbly and ready to enjoy!!

Why I Love Saturdays

There are many reasons why I love Saturdays. They are just a breath of fresh air for me. Here are a few reasons why...

#1-Sleeping In
Oh what a wonderful feeling it is to not wake up to a blaring alarm at 6a.m.! I love Saturdays because I get to turn off my mean alarm and rest up. It's so nice to sleep until I want to be awake! Haha! It's nice to not jump out of bed and have to run straight to the shower and start getting ready. It's wonderful to snuggle up next to Tyler and just snooze!:)

#2-Waffles
While we were in pre-marital counseling, we were asked to think about weekly traditions we could implement in our home. One of the things we decided on was to make waffles every Saturday morning and eat breakfast together. I never dreamed I would look forward to it as much as I do now! During the week we are both usually rushing around trying to get out the door and we normally eat breakfast in the car, so being able to sit down and enjoy delicious waffles every Saturday is a treat! We have an amazing Belgian waffle maker and it's been fun experimenting with new waffle combinations. My favorite so far? Blueberry and chocolate chip! Tyler makes the waffles every Saturday and the delicious smell fills our apartment! Yesterday I was so blessed when he surprised me with breakfast in bed! Waffles, juice, and coffee all while still in bed? Yes please! I had the biggest smile on my face and a happy belly too!:)

#3-Saturday Walks
Tyler and I try to get out and walk as much as we can in the evenings during the week. However, I love our Saturday walks! We usually try to go to Mt. Rubidoux or Andulka Park on Saturdays and I love that we can walk as long as we want!:) I feel much better when I am consistently exercising and I love just being with my Love and doing something that is good for our bodies. :)

#4- Softball
Tyler is currently playing another season of softball and every Saturday night he has a game. He loves playing and I love being able to watch him play! I do not enjoy how cold and windy it gets at the field, but I have learned to remember to always dress warm, take my blanket, and make a little stop at Starbucks on the way to his game to pick up a warm drink!

#5-Simply Being Together
Saturday is the only day of the week Tyler and I really have to just enjoy some quality time together. We stay very busy during the week and of course church and other church commitments on Sundays, so I love that on Saturdays we can just enjoy being together!:)

These are just a few of the many reasons why I love Saturdays!!:)

"So, how is married life?"

I love how since we have gotten married, so many people have asked me this question! Haha! I know it is the obvious question to ask, but I always sort of giggle now when people ask me this because I am asked it all the time. I wonder what they would do if I said, "Oh, it's horrible!";)

Married life is amazing! I honestly am so blessed each and every day by my wonderful husband. He is my best friend and I could have never imagined I could love someone as much as I love him. As excited as I was for my wedding day, I was so much more excited to just be married. I think society has gotten so carried away with weddings. It truly saddens me to see and hear about how much emphasis is put on the details of one day. I have heard about many people who are still trying to pay off their debt from their big day. Yes, I was stoked to plan a wedding, wear a pretty dress, and carry beautiful flowers. However, I was so anxious to just be married. I feel like sometimes brides and grooms-to-be forget about what comes after the big day. They are solely focused on picking out the perfect cake and planning every last detail, that they do not stop to remember that their wedding day is just one day. Our wedding day flew by so fast. Everything did not go perfect. No matter how much planning Tyler and I put in to our wedding, things still went wrong. It did not matter how much money was spent to ensure things went smoothly, things still went wrong. The things I expected to go wrong went right and the things I never dreamed could go wrong...well...they went wrong. :) Did I cry? Yep. Was I a little overwhelmed? Uh huh. Am I thankful that I kept reminding myself that it was only one day out of a lifetime to come? Oh yes. Was it all worth it and incredible? Absolutely. It makes me giggle now. It was a wonderful day that I will always remember. At the end of July 17, 2009 I was still Mrs. Tyler Ellis and it sure felt great and still does!
I love being a wife. I love investing in my relationship with Tyler. I love walking through life with him, although we have already been faced with our fair share of challenges. I love that Tyler challenges me to be a better woman and to have a deeper relationship with Christ. I love that he always listens to me. I simply love him.:)
We are both busy working hard! Tyler is still working at the Grove with the high school group and he loves it! I am currently substitute teaching and boy do I have some great stories to tell at the end of every day! I worked so hard for my credential and can't wait for the day when I have my own classroom. It's disappointing to see what's happening with education in California right now, but I know God has a plan for me and I just have to keep looking towards Him although I do not see His plan right now. I am just thankful we both have good jobs which provide for our needs. We are quite excited to see what the future holds for us!

Right before we walked in to our reception. So happy to finally be Mr. and Mrs. Ellis!!:)

Here I Go!

So, here is my first attempt at blogging! I really have no idea what I am doing yet, but I have really been wanting to start a blog so our friends and family can see what is going on in our lives. Tyler and I are far away from so many of our loved ones and I know how much I like to know what's going on with the people I love (and see their pictures!!), so I figured this would be a great way for everyone to see what is happening in the Ellis household! Secretly, I am hoping my blog will inspire many of my friends and family to start blogging too so i can see what's going on with them! No pressure!;) Anyways, here is my first post! I added this picture so I could practice uploading pictures! Let's see what happens!:)
